History of the ROCK-TARS

by Joe Schomacker

The birth of the Rock-TARs started during the late spring of 2000 when I was searching for "Republican". I came up on the 'MN TARS' website and immediately signed up. That summer I recieved a packet full of information to help start our club. I read through it, and started to form a structure for the TARs.

Early that fall I found a few people to help me out and we had our first meeting on October 30th, 2000. This was just one week before the infamous 2000 election. Soon after that first meeting we were up and running very well.

We had our first annual meeting to have a full election in May of 2001. During the summer of that year we marched in a parade with Dr. Richard Mulder, our State Representative in which was the first time we presented our new banner, which my grandma, mother, and I made in 27 hours. In July we met with our State Senator Arlene Lesewski. I represented the Rock-TARs also that summer at MLC 2001. I had a wonderful time and made many many new friends.
